Director’s Note

At AZURE we pride ourselves on experimenting with new gemstones, techniques, and other elements. Our AZURE Starflower Earrings are inspired by the striking colour combination of coral with lapis lazuli and the idea of a star-flower shape with a drop. It was the first time we had worked with coral and wanted to pair it with an equally vibrant gemstone colour, like lapis lazuli. The creative process involved a back and forth between staying true to the design while working within the parameters of what was possible with these gemstones. To realise our design, we worked with a local artisan who carved the lapis lazuli into marquis shapes and hanging drops in the dimensions we required. It took almost six months from the idea conception to the production of the master piece.  

The beauty of the coral and lapis lazuli combination also lies in its symbolism. Coral is known as a remedy for health issues ranging from physical to stress and anxiety. Lapis Lazuli, associated with wisdom and self-awareness, brings peace of mind. Together, they have a strong and positive bearing on one’s well-being.
